We reach your audience through accessibility
At No Limits Media, we make your movies accessible. Our subtitles and audio descriptions render the narrative of your movie so that people with impaired vision and hearing can authentically experience your content.
Because we know exactly how to create relevant, inclusive storytelling. Our professional subtitlers and writers have many years of experience in film and television production.
Because accessible audiovisual media is mandatory for all channels
We’re very well acquainted with the legal framework and guidelines set by film funding bodies. The current Medienstaatsvertrag (“German State Treaty on Media”) requires all institutions that produce films, commercials, or videos, or host live events, to make their content accessible to people with a visual or hearing disability. And there are about 16 million such people in Germany.
According to Section 15 (6/h) of the Filmfördergesetz (“Film Funding Act”) of the German Federal Film Board (Filmförderanstalt – FFA), every film funded by the FFA, the German Federal Film Fund (Deutscher Filmförderfond – DFFF), or the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien – BKM), must be available in an accessible version at the time of its theatrical release.
We understand your business
We speak your language and know about all the requirements broadcasters, program marketers, streaming services, and movie theater operators set for accessible audiovisual media. We know the specifications and convert file formats accordingly. We see the big picture: From the start, we are mindful of various distribution types – home entertainment, television, and internet platforms. This saves time and money.
Our accessible film versions for the German movie market comply with the guidelines set by film funding bodies. And of course you’ll receive the corresponding confirmation you need for the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) as a producer for film funding. We would also be happy to support you in your submissions to global film festivals.
Subtitles, audio description, and live transcription that make the difference
Be it closed captions, burned-in subtitles, or the appropriate export formats for various uses and platforms, our customized subtitling meets the requirements for the distribution of your movie in theaters, on TV, or online.
At No Limits Media, we work with two standards for our audio descriptions. One is the conventional version with human voices, which is particularly suitable for feature-length films. The second is a version with synthetic voices we’re increasingly using for short projects or projects with a small budget.
The dialogue list we create and translate contains the verbatim reproduction of audio, timecodes, and speaker identification. Additional information on pronunciation and dubbing instructions (as in dubbing scripts) is not included.
